Horizon Partners Northwest is proud to announce funding for their latest project, Sandberg on the Ave, an ambitious transformation of one of Tacoma’s most iconic buildings.
Located at 1423 Pacific Avenue, Sandberg on the Ave reimagines the historic 1907 Sandberg Building—once home to Schoenfeld’s Furniture and, more recently, Davita—into a modern, amenity-rich residential community while preserving its storied past.
This adaptive reuse project will deliver 75 thoughtfully designed apartment homes, ranging from 800 to 1,350 square feet, each with onsite parking. Residents will enjoy high-end finishes including quartz countertops, walk-in closets, mini split heating/AC, marble bathroom surrounds, induction electric ranges, tankless heat pump water heaters, and full-size washers and dryers.
Community amenities include:
State-of-the-art fitness center
Pet salon
2,500 square foot rooftop amenity space with full kitchen, conference/dining rooms, Zoom rooms, and lounge areas featuring a fireplace and big-screen TV. Opens to a spacious deck with fire pits, dining areas, covered BBQ, and stunning views of Mt. Rainier and the Foss Waterway.
Enhanced security features, including smartphone or fob-enabled keyless entry and secure, controlled-access covered parking.
Perfectly situated, Sandberg on the Ave is just steps from vibrant downtown dining, coffee shops, and offices, and is within close proximity to the University of Washington Tacoma, public transit, and I-5.
Since 1998, Horizon Partners Northwest has earned a reputation for bringing new life to Tacoma’s historic architecture, with notable projects such as Brewery Blocks Tacoma - a $125 million revitalization of more than 11 downtown buildings. The firm’s dedication to adaptive reuse and community-driven design has earned them an Outstanding Rehabilitation Award from the Landmark Preservation Commission for their contributions to Tacoma’s economic development.
